SHOCK: Teen fatally stabbed girl after she turned down prom invite

Posted Friday, April 25th 2014 @ 10am

(Milford, CT)  --  An eleventh-grader at a Connecticut high school is dead after being stabbed by another student.  Authorities say 16-year-old Maren Sanchez was found slashed in a hallway at Jonathan Law High School in Milford around seven this morning.  She was taken to Bridgeport Hospital and pronounced dead.  A 16-year-old boy is in custody. The "Connecticut Post" reports the stabbing may have been over a fight about the junior prom that was scheduled for tonight. The event has since been postponed.  The incident triggered a lockdown, and students were eventually dismissed for the day.  Sanchez was reportedly a popular honor student and athlete.  Grief counselors are hand.
