It's no surprise that THOMAS RHETT'S song "Beer With Jesus" has sparked a little controversy.  Some would consider it blasphemous to imagine Jesus popping open a cold one. Even Thomas understands that.  He says, quote, "Igrew up Church of Christ.  You're taught that beer is wrong and alcohol is wrong."

--After Thomas grew up and moved out on his own . . . he had one of those "camp-fire" conversations with a group of friends where they got all philosophical.  And that's where the song comes from. He explains quote, "Those moments stick out in my mind because those were some of the best conversations I had with my buddies . . . just getting below the surface and talking about deeper life stuff and things that matter.

--"Basically, the song is personal questions . . . about what I would ask Jesus and what I thought the general population would ask Jesus if they had 20 minutes just to sit down and talk to Him."
