AN EMAIL ABOUT BAY COUNTY SCHOOLS BUSES....What do you think?? Read this email and let us know
Subject: Waller Elementary School Bus Driver
Can you find out why the school bus driver that forced the children off the bus yesterday (Tuesday, 20 Aug 2013) because she didn’t want to drive down the muddy roads wasn’t fired for endangering the ELEMENTARY school children?
My nephews ride that route, and had to walk 3 miles from where she dropped them off at back to where they live. The youngest nephew is 7 years old and a severe asthmatic. He was soaking wet, covered in mud, and barely able to breath when he made it home. No parents were notified that she was dropping the children off at an alternate location.
In addition to no parents being notified, a 6 year old 1st grade child (who was unfamiliar with where he was dropped off at) got lost wandering around for several hours looking for his way home, to the point the police were called to go door to door to find him. This is completely outrageous! If the school is unwilling to fire that driver, they should at the very least transfer her to a different bus route (that doesn’t involve driving on a dirt road as she seems incapable of doing so).
The first time she forced students off was at the corner of Rogers Road and Hwy 2301. The remainder of the children were forced off at Campflowers Road and Merlin Road. All of the children forced off the bus live in the rural areas between the two points.
I understand the roads are a mess back there due to the massive amounts of rain. The issue with the substandard road conditions is further compounded by the County NOT maintaining the roads in that area. That said, the bus goes down those roads year after year in all kinds of weather; If that particular driver cannot navigate those roads, then another driver who can needs to replace her.
Please let me know if you or any of your listeners can explain why this person not only is allowed to retain a position with Bay District Schools, but is back driving that same bus today. Thank you, and I sincerely appreciate any light you can shed on this incident.
