Sopranos star James Gandolfini died Wednesday in Italy from a suspected heart attack. He was 51. He was in the country to attend a film festival in Sicily. The actor won three Emmys for his portrayal of mob boss Tony Soprano on the hit HBO series. He most recently appeared in The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.
Steven Van Zandt, who worked with Gandolfini on The Sopranos, issued a statement that read: "I have lost a brother and a best friend. The world has lost one of the greatest actors of all time. Maureen and I send our deepest sympathy and love to Deborah, Michael, Lily, and all of Jimmy's family."
Gandolfini is survived by his wife Deborah Lin, who gave birth to their daughter in October 2012. He also has a teenage son from a previous marriage.
