Thomas Rhett now has a chart-topping single to his credit, and has logged another "first" in the process.
"It Goes Like This" has reached the peak position on the Billboard Country Airplay chart to become the country singer's first number one hit. It also marks the first time a father and son have both had a record top this particular chart as solo artists. Thomas' dad, Rhett Akins, went to number one on the Country Airplay chart in August 1996 with single "Don't Get Me Started."
But Thomas and Rhett aren't the first parent and child to independently top the chart. Hillary Scott has topped the Country Airplay list a number of times as a member of Lady Antebellum. And her mom, Linda Davis, was at number one on the chart with Reba McEntire with their collaborative hit, "Does He Love You" in November 1993.

Miranda Lambert now has a Pink Pistol store in her hometown.
East Texas' KLTV says hundreds of fans turned out Saturday for the start of the two-day grand opening event launching the boutique in Lindale, Texas.
And the country star's parents say Miranda was very active in preparing for the big weekend. Dad Rick Lambert says the singer "had a huge hand" in putting the store together. Mom Beverly Lambert adds that Miranda helped design the decor, and "even painted some of the decorations in the store herself."
She adds that The Pink Pistol is something Miranda is doing outside her music career. Beverly explains that Miranda "doesn't want to be a celebrity in this," but simply "wants to be the owner of The Pink Pistol Texas."
The Lindale location is Miranda's second store. She launched The Pink Pistol last fall in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, where she now makes her home with husband Blake Shelton.
Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus says the trio is "getting close" to completing their next album.
The country star tells Billboard.com they're "getting some of the first mixes back" that they recorded with producer Howard Benson, and says it's "really exciting stuff."
Jay adds that he's also producing some of the songs, and he's "very thrilled about that opportunity." The singer says the group is hoping to release a new single before the month is over, and have the album in stores by March.
The new Rascal Flatts disc will be their follow up to 2012's Changed, which features the top ten hit "Come Wake Me Up" and the chart-topper "Banjo."

Fans are now being asked to weigh in on their favorite country stars. But not on their music - on their looks.
"Country Weekly" is once again looking to see who's hot in their 2013 "Country Music's Sexiest Man" poll.
All of country's guys - married or not - are up for the title. Luke Bryan, Darius, Rucker, and George Strait are among the 49 stars featured in the poll. Tim McGraw, Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, The Band Perry's Neil and Reid Perry, and Chris Young are in the running as well. Billy Currington and Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley are also on the list, along with Toby Keith, Jason Aldean, Brett Eldredge, Hunter Hayes, the guys from Rascal Flatts, and others.
There's also a write-in option. Voting is under way at CountryWeekly.com, and closes on October 20th.
Who will take home the title?!

(Yahoo!) - No, this is not a Halloween trick. It's a bona fide treat from the Robertson family: the "Duck Dynasty" crew is releasing a Christmas album October 29, and we've got your first peek at the album right here.
In addition to the requisite camouflage, swampland, decoys, and beards bushier than Santa's on the cover, "Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas" includes guest appearances from some of country music's biggest names.
Now that we've established the album looks, um, festive, just how big are those country guest stars we mentioned?
Well, try the King of Country himself, George Strait, who joins Phil Robertson for an ode to "Christmas Cookies." Strait is a busy man, currently in the midst of planning his sellout final tour, so this is indeed a treat for the Robertson's stockings.
The Academy of Country Music's currently reigning Entertainer of the Year, Luke Bryan, also makes an appearance, as do Alison Krauss and Josh Turner. Although the track listing features a number of zany-sounding originals (such as "Hairy Christmas," which Bryan performs with Willie Robertson), there are also several classics included (Krauss duets with the teenaged Sadie Robertson on "Silent Night").
"Faith, family, and ducks — in that order — have always been our priorities," Willie Robertson told"Entertainment Tonight" when the album concept was initially introduced back in June. "Christmas is an important holiday for us, not only because of our strong faith, but also our holiday family traditions. We’re having a great time making this album. We hope you enjoy it."
Reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Blake Shelton will be performing at this year's Country Music Association Awards. The country star, who's a five-time nominee heading into the event, is among the first eight artists confirmed for the ceremony.
Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, and Keith Urban are also slated to take the stage, along with Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Little Big Town, and Tim McGraw. And like Shelton, they're all nominees as well.
Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will host the 47th annual CMA Awards, which will take place in Nashville on November 6th. The three-hour ceremony will air live on ABC at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.
